Frozen Monster Grape Eyeballs add a creepy (and healthy) twist to your Halloween party spread. Grapes, yogurt and candy eyeballs are the only ingredients needed to create this simple, kid-friendly Halloween snack. That is, unless you want to add strawberry juice for an eerie, bloody twist (insert creepy laugh).

One of our favorite snacks around the house has always been frozen grapes, so I figured for this Halloween season, why not try adding some creamy Greek yogurt to the mix and turn it into a fun, spooky Halloween treat that is shhhh… healthy!

How to Make Monster Grape Eyeballs

The trick when making monster eyeballs is to freeze the grapes before dipping them into yogurt. A frozen grape ensures that the yogurt will stick every time. While it may be a little difficult for little ones to be patient while the grapes and then the grapes with yogurt freeze, they’ll find that the end result is well worth the wait.

Once the frozen grapes have been dipped in yogurt, eyeballs added and the yogurt frozen again, when it is time to serve I like giving the eyeballs an extra touch. To make the grape eyeballs look like they have bloody veins, I top with strawberry juice. Simply add strawberries to a zip top bag, smash, cut the corner off of the bag and then drizzle the eyeballs with juice (aka blood).

For a fun serving idea, stick the toothpicks in a clear cup of crushed Oreo cookies. You can also stick them in floral foam and add the Oreos or other food around them. They will certainly be a hit as an after school snack or at a Halloween party.

Candy Eyeballs

You can pick up Candy Eyeballs from Target or Michael’s but I usually order them from Amazon (affiliate link) to ensure I’ll have them when I need them. For eyeballs of various shapes and sizes, be sure to check out these. (Note that the image is doing something wonky below.) For a pack with sizes as well as looks, try this set

  • Total Time: 3 hours
  • Yield: 30 eyeballs 1x
  • Category: Party food

Description

For a healthy and equally gory Halloween snack, serve Monster Grape Eyeballs featuring frozen grapes, yogurt and strawberry juice.

Scale

Ingredients

  • 30 4-inch wooden skewers
  • 30 large seedless grapes (red or green)
  • 1 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Candy eyeballs
  • 10 large strawberries, hulled (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place one wooden skewer into the bottom of one grape. Repeat with remaining skewers and grapes. Place grapes in a single layer on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and freeze for at least 2 hours or until grapes are solid.
  2. Once frozen, remove grapes and dip individually into a bowl of yogurt, fully covering the outside of the grape. Add candy eyeball(s) to each grape then place back on the baking sheet.
  3. Freeze once more for at least 45 minutes or until yogurt is frozen.
  4. If desired, when ready to serve, place strawberries in a zip-top bag and mash completely. Cut corner of the bag and drizzle the grapes with strawberry juice. Serve immediately.

Notes

Wooden skewers, toothpicks and cake pop sticks all work well for holding the grapes
